A tall pottery jar of the type known as Rockport Incised has been decorated with a series of parallel lines encircling the rim. Native peoples in very late Prehistoric and early Historic times made quantities of these and other vessels along the coastal and inland areas of south Texas, using local clays tempered with crushed shell or bone.
