Stepping Back in Time: The Case of the Ancient Sandals


If you were handed a pile of plant fibers, could you create a pair of sandals? If you're good at braids and knots, you may be a great sandal maker! Braiding and knotting plant fiber makes it even stronger.

Different Indian groups had different ways of weaving sandals. For instance, "fishtail" sandals from the Rustler Hills have what look like a fish's tail at the back of them.
