This 1870 drawing of a corn sheller is just like the piece of one found at the farm. The drawing, showing details of the parts of the device and how it works, was made by the inventor who applied for a patent on the tool. U.S. patents are legal documents that protect inventors' ideas from people who might try to copy them!
