Another type of glass container artifact is the Schies glass jar lid. These three specimens are bottle closures for wide mouth food jars, and they represent a specific type of patented closure that was held in place on the jar rim by a wire that swiveled and locked into the zigzag grove on top of the lid. Each of these lids is embossed with "PATD 1898 JANY 11" on the underside, and two different sizes of lids were recovered.
