| These odd-looking things are the remains of prehistoric meals, found in the dry caves of southwest Texas! Called quids, they are the leaf bases of plants such as lechuguilla. After Indians chewed off the sugary parts, they spit out these wads of fiber, or quids. This must have been sort of like eating artichokes today. |
