Cupreous (copper or copper alloy) figurine from a small crucifix recovered in 1994 from the upper portion of a thick midden deposit at the Polvo site (41PS21). This stylized figurine, which was probably once mounted on a wooden cross, has slightly raised edges or a lip on its back side, suggesting production by a stamped process. Although its age is unknown, it probably dates to the Spanish Colonial era (Proto Historic or Mission periods). Photo by Andy Cloud.
