Image of partially recoconstructed deep bowl.
This partially reconstructed deep, globular bowl with a constricted neck from the Linn Lake area presents analysts with a typological conundrum. It has rather sloppily applied asphaltum paint, thus could be classified as Rockport Black-on-gray, yet it also has elements of Rockport Incised including two incised lines and a notched or “nicked” rim. Avocational archeologist Bill Birmingham collected the sherds over a 27-year period as he monitored an eroding site and was able to piece together most of the vessel.
