In the Great Camanchee (sic) Village, near the Texas panhandle, circa 1840s, by frontier artist George Catlin. The scene, he notes, records but a small part of the extensive village. The "wigwam of the chief" is in foreground, and women are drying meat and working buffalo hides nearby. From Catlin 1926.
