| Circa 1938 photograph by A.T. Jackson showing what he describes as “the tallest known pictograph in Texas.” Located in Jeff Davis County, the 18-foot panel was executed in colors of red, orange, brown, white and green. Jackson’s book, “Picture-Writing of Texas Indians,” was the earliest systematic study of Texas rock art. In more recent times, radiocarbon dates were obtained for pigment sample taken from this panel. Photo from Jackson 1938 Plate LVVII. |
