Shaft straighteners: Grooved and/or incised stones that were heated for use in bending and straightening dart and arrow shafts. They are almost always broken in mid-section by heating. Some do not have the grooves, only the incised lines. Their function clearly confirmed by ethnographic analogy from the historic Southwest and California.
