| The Davis site occupies a flat ridge that overlooks the floodplain of the Neches River. When Anglo settlers moved into this area of east Texas in the mid-1800s, the site had been abandoned for at least 500 years. They named the open, flat ridge "Mound Prairie." Graphic by Dee Ann Story. |
