This dugout canoe was found buried within flood deposits along the Red River below Texarkana. It is thought to represent a Caddo canoe and has been radiocarbon dated to about A.D. 1000. A rare find indeed. Although there is no direct archeological evidence of dugout canoes along the Guadalupe River, the many woodworking tools found at Morhiss Mound are intriguing.
