These two lumps of asphaltum (Feature 9) found at the Morhiss Mound site appear to be a single dried mass weighing over two pounds that had broken in half in prehistoric times. The shape of the lumps suggests that the asphaltum had been transported from the coast in some sort of fiber bag or perhaps a basket. TARL Archives.
